The restoration and functional recovery project involved assets present within the Podere San Carlo within the Stupinigi Concentrico such as the Ex Locanda Castelvecchio, the Podere Orto Dassano, the ex barn and the ex Laundry.
The objective was to intervene with actions aimed at safeguarding the architectural assets present, preserving them from inexorable deterioration and favouring the establishment of activities that, in compliance with the regulations in force for the protection of the cultural and landscape heritage, would allow their revitalisation, promoting their sustainable tourist development as part of a broader programme for the enhancement of the Royal Residences system.
New receptivity, participation, reconnection, flexibility enhancement.
The project’s objectives aimed to implement appropriate measures to preserve the identity of the places so that the Concentrico can become a landscape, environmental and cultural reference point for the area and a showcase for the knowledge of the area’s agri-environmental and food resources.
With a view to giving the Borgo di Stupinigi the importance and centrality it deserves, it was essential to take into account the tourist attraction generated by the former Locanda Castelvecchio and the Podere Orto Dassano in order to better respond to the needs of a tourism strongly linked to the area by proposing the restoration of the original function of the Ex Locanda Castelvecchio, which aims to encourage a stationary type of tourismand not just ‘passing through’.

The inn is therefore intended to welcome visitors interested not only in visiting the Palazzina, but also in discovering the area and the park. In fact, the building, given its position, is intended to act as a ‘gateway’ to the territory, a nerve point from which the roads lead to the surrounding farmsteads and the wooded areas of the park.
The Ex-Laundries building, given its particular conformation and distribution, is destined for activities to support the tertiary services offered by the village of Stupinigi with a strong social vocation.
Consisting of a single building body, subdivided internally into “cells” of equal in size, the building can also be used to host socio-cultural events and exhibitions in support and exhibitions in support of the activities organised in the nearby hemicycle (currently used as an events area).
The ultimate aim is to create the conditions, within the Concentrico, for economic activities that can determine new lines of development and at the same time promote the valorisation of architectural and historical excellence.
