The urban context in which the monumental building complex known as "Palazzo Bonelli" or "Palazzo Beaumont-Bonelli" is situated constitutes one of the most significant medieval settlement testimonies of the city of Barletta, near the Church of Santa Maria del Carmine and the Swabian Castle. The aim of the intervention is to breathe new life into the building by combining the need for restoration and functional recovery with communicative and cultural needs, in accordance with the principles highlighted in the Venice Charter since 1964.
A piece of the city's history becomes a bearer of the future and memories
The various design themes have been woven into a single engaging narrative that connects the city's cultural heritage and resources with the architectural asset, illustrating its style, peculiarities, chronological development, from its creation to the most recent events.
The objective of the new exhibition route is to enable both real and virtual tours, varying over time, to discover not only the building and the type of private noble palaces but also the historical and artistic heritage of its territory. The museum has been divided into different historical themes that trace the history of the Disfida, the City, the Palazzo, and the historical noble life of Barletta.
This results in a comprehensive and widely accessible system of enjoyment represented by a combination of contents through which an exhibition path can be built, complementing the enhancement intervention of which it is an integral part, focusing on the fascination and engagement that the spaces and history of the Palazzo are able to create.
Finally, in the rooms, lighting installations complete the scenic effects, making the physical visit a unique and evocative spectacle.
